Specialist Course in Verdian Repertoire

Applications have opened for the 12 places reserved to opera singers for vocal, musical, and theatrical excellence training.
The course is free and includes a scholarship.

Now in its third year, Accademia Verdiana 2019 has announced its latest training program, offering 12 young opera singers the opportunity to attend the free “Specialist Course in Verdian Repertoire”, thanks to the support of Regione Emilia Romagna and the European Social Fund (Operation Ref. PA 2018-9806/RER approved by Regional Council Resolution n.1208/2018 co-financed by the European Social Fund PO 2014-2020 Regione Emilia-Romagna).

The course, established by the Fondazione Teatro Regio di Parma in collaboration with Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Accademia d’arte lirica di Osimo, I teatri di Reggio Emilia, Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli, and the Comune di Parma Assessorato alla cultura, is aimed at candidates aged 18 or over on 8 January 2019, that are resident or domiciled in Emilia Romagna, and that have completed a diploma of singing or attended private tuition. Those in private tuition must obtain a declaration from their teacher pertaining to their suitability. Applications must be received via email no later than Tuesday 8 January 2019 at: accademiaverdiana@teatroregioparma.it. Selections will take place at the Teatro Regio di Parma from 16 to 18 January and the 12 singers selected will be able to participate in vocal, musical, and theatrical excellence training, free of charge, and will receive a scholarship of €1,000.

The course will be led by teachers, professionals, and vocal coaches who specialise in the Veridian repertoire – Fiorenza Cedolins, Sonia Ganassi, Cecilia Gasdia, Giovanna Casolla, Barbara Frittoli, William Matteuzzi, Leo Muscato are among the tutors of the 2018 course which has just concluded – and includes individual, group, and masterclass lessons covering all aspects of interpretation, and the professional profile management of an opera singer: study of the score, diction, vocal and interpretative techniques, vocal ensemble music, stage movement and group interaction, acting, history of opera, and the management of your own professional profile. The training also includes workshops, seminars, and meetings with conductors, directors, singers, and operatic theatre professionals that students can watch in action at the rehearsals of the productions for the Opera Season, Festival Verdi and Verdi Off 2019. Participants may also be offered artistic collaboration opportunities for the Opera Season, Festival Verdi, and Verdi Off.
